Shakuhachi
Shakuhachi
I was about twenty one years old the first time I heard the Shakuhachi flute. It made such an impression on me that I immediately called the Japanese Embassy and asked any information they could give me about it! With their typical kindness and organization, they called me next day and gave me name and addresses of stores that imported the instrument, and the only teacher that lived near my area (two hours drive). A few months later I started studying with my first teacher, Karl Signell, and I never “looked back”. I have since lived and studied in Japan for three years, and traveled to Japan, USA and Europe in other occasions for special workshops and Festivals.
For me, the Shakuhachi is the deepest language of my Spirit to connect with the One. It is a doorway to a deeper silence within, it is the ideal vehicle for me to unite my path as a musician and as a spiritual practitioner.
For the last twenty years I have been offering concerts, workshops, and private lessons internationally, combined with teaching the practice of Zazen.
I teach Shakuhachi through private lessons (also VIA skype), and happy to play for meditation groups or “sound of zen” concerts. For more information about Shakuhachi and my activities in this area, I am soon launching a dedicated website… please stay in tune in the News and Events section for the announcement and link.
